Reordering Project Appeal 2012-13
The Church family and others have succeeeded in contributing some £300,000 to the Reordering Project. Thisis a wonderful result, but is still only half-way towards the total cost. The works have been subject to financing so that the Echurch could take advantage of recessionary building costs. We have also been able to conduct most of the works VAT-free: had we started a few months later, we would have been caught by the Government's end of VAT relief for alterations to Grade I listed churches like ours – which would have increased our costs by over £100,000 higher. Nevertheless, we still need to raise a further £250,000 in order to discharge our debt whilst interest rates are low.
The project itself has involved essential repairs and restoration as well as providing imporoved facilities more suited to current and future needs. We expect that all the expenditure will serve Holy Trinity well, just as the previous reordering has done, which was completed in the 1860s. It is therefore truly an investment in a Church that is looking forward positively to a future of worship and community service in the 21st century.
Our prayer is that the Church family and the wider parish community recognise the importance of this project to the future of the Church and will consider giving very generously. We also hope that friends from outside Cuckfield, grant-making trusts, and our many hundreds of visitors will respond to our call.
You can listen here to Revd Canon Nick Wetherall's 27 March 2011 sermon on the need for giving and can download the accompanying extracts to which he refers (The Reordering Prayer; Exodus 35: 4-9,20-29; Acts 4: 32-37; Luke 21: 1-4).
How to give
You can make a one-off gift or you can commit to planned giving over a period of months. You can do either of these things online here and now with a credit or debit card, or by post. Either way, if you are a UK taxpayer then we ask you please to make a Gift Aid declaration which will increase the value of your donation to us – at no cost to yourself – by 25%.
Paying online
We have made arrangements with Virgin Money Giving (a not-for-profit charity giving organisation) to process online payments for us and to organise our Gift Aid recovery through HM Revenue & Customs. Virgin Money Giving charges us (not you) 2% of the value of your donation for this service – this is far lower than many similar organisations and we think is excellent value having regard to the administrative costs that it saves us. Paying by post
If you wish to make a planned giving donation and pay by Bank Standing Order then please download the form below. Please use this form also as your Gift Aid declaration if you wish to make a one-off payment by cheque.
I WANT TO MAKE A DONATION BY POST
When completed, please post your form (and your cheque, if applicable) back to:
Reordering Project Appeal, Church Office, The Old School,
Church Street, Cuckfield, West Sussex, RH17 5JZ
