At Holy Trinity we believe that God has given humanity, and each individual person, a special role: to care for and nurture (rather than exploit) God’s creation. For Christians, modelling this purpose is a sacred duty. In caring for plants and animals, and the sky, soil and sea we all share, we become more fully human, and imitate God who entered and joined in his own creation, in the person of Jesus Christ.
We aim to promote a compassionate and responsible attitude towards all God’s creation and creatures. This includes celebrating the contribution animals make to our lives and welfare, particularly in our annual pet service.
It also means acknowledging all animals, not just pets, as fellow creatures, loved by God on their own account, with their own feelings and needs that it is our call to respect and protect. This influences everything, from our prayers together, the food and ingredients featured in our meals, the cleaning products used around the church and old school, and the way our churchyard space is managed for wildlife.
